Titus 3:12-15- When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, do your best to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there. Make every effort to help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way; make sure they have what they need. Here is another way that our people can learn to engage in good works to meet pressing needs and so not be unfruitful. Everyone with me greets you. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with you all.
The Apostle Paul, the one who wrote the passage above to another Disciple named Titus, stated in the book of Acts (chapter 20:34-35), "You yourselves know that these hands of mine provided for my needs and the needs of those who were with me. By all these things, I have shown you that by working in this way we must help the weak, and remember the words of the Lord Jesus that he himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.. Now Paul is passing on his mindset to his friend Titus. Titus new Paul very well and spent a lot of time with Paul. So, Paul's example of working with his hands to provide for himself and helping the weak was clearly seen by Titus. Paul was now telling Titus to be an example himself.
By Titus helping Zenas the lawyer and Appolos on their way and making sure that they have everything that they need, this will show the people around him 'another way that our people can learn to engage in good works to meet pressing needs'. As LLIFTT helps others, we pray that our example inspires others to learn from us and do the same.
Helping the helpless:
LLIFTT will commit itself to help those who are truly helpless whether it be because of physical or mental defect or caused by tragedies in life. The people of LLIFTT will work with their own hands to help these weak people. Some examples would be the following:
- Doing yard work
- Doing house work
- providing transportation to stores and doctors offices
- Performing routine automobile maintenance
Helping individuals help themselves:
During the process of helping the helpless, LLIFTT will work to recognize those individuals who are physically and mentally capable of helping themselves. Once identified, LLIFTT will encourage them and train them so that they will feel confident enough and have the skills necessary to help themselves with different aspects and functions in their lives.
